Patience & Compassion

(Read all the way to the bottom, even if you aren't planning on doing Master level.)

Core: Learn with your family from the Core Inspirements for the Family

Journeyman:
Do both. One is the math focus and the other is building on that and adds in the science focus for the month.

1) In math this month we are learning about lines. What is a line -think farther, dig deeper?
    • List all the ways you could define a line.
    • Now add to that list items or examples of a line.
    • After you have come up with all the ways you can think of, read all the definitions in the Noah Webster 1828 Dictionary
    • Add any other words or examples you noticed, in the dictionary, to the list you started.
 2) Now let's apply this to our focus in science this month: trees and plants
    •  Go outside and observe the lines in nature, in trees and plants specifically.
    • What function do those lines -stalks, trunks, veins, edges, roots, etc.- provide, in other words, why are they there?
    • Ask Heavenly Father to teach you more. You could ask Him questions like: why did You make them this way? what is the purpose of so many variations? what else would You have me see or understand?
Master:
Choose at least one from math and one from science.

Math:
1) I have another new favorite mathematician Euclid. I have recently heard of the wonder of "Euclid's Elements" books. They are free in the public domain.
    • To whet your appetite here is a fun video to give a review of book 1 and hopefully get you excited.
    • Then if you decide you are ready to experience it yourself, here is a  link to "Euclid's Elements: Book 1" translated from Greek (it really starts on page 12, but there is value in the pretext. A point may be the beginning but from lines come a whole world visual, physical, practical applications and discoveries.

2) You could:
    • get started with "Euclid's Elements: Book 1" OR
    • Just play with lines by creating an image with lines. You can do this on parer, with tread and cloth, with sticks, straws., etc. Have fun and bring to share what you have done.
Science:
1) Learn the names and be able to identify 5 new plants or trees. Then go find them outside.

2) Start a garden. Help your family or ask your parents if you can plan and start a garden. In your planning find out when to plant each things; where to start them -inside or outside; what they need -sun, shade, partial of either. Learning about companion plants will help your garden to be healthier and more successful. Please call me if you need any help. This is a love of mine and I think a strength -my genius.

3) Learn about natural medicine and remedies: how to identify the plants, where to find them, how to use them, and what to use them for; OR if you would rather, if your family uses essential oils, learn where they come form and how to use them.
